Source Protection Plan
The goal of the Source Protection Plan is to manage or eliminate existing activities that are, or could become, significant threats.
Source Protection Committee members have been working with conservation authority staff, municipal staff and other experts in a Working Group to examine the various tools and policy approaches available to them. The group has drafted documents outlining the approaches they feel are appropriate to address each threat category along with a rationale for them, which was completed in the fall of 2011.
Pre-Consultation with Implementing Bodies: The agencies responsible for implementation of the Plan were sent the Draft Source Protection Plan and Draft Explanatory Document in early October 2011, to allow them time to review the documents and provide feedback to the Committee by the deadline of January 13, 2012.

Municipal Workshops have been scheduled to allow for municipalities to meet with Source Protection Staff and Committee members to review the documents on a one-on-one basis.

Public consultation on the Source Protection Plan will begin later in the spring of 2012. There will be two separate rounds of public consultation.
The Source Protection Plan is due to be submitted to the Ministry of Environment in August 2012.
